Dieter Michel-Auli, chief executive of DB International, states that the company is willing to render consulting services to a unified logistics operator of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. DB has no long-term goals for the project; however, involvement of its assets is currently being negotiated. DB admits that cargo transportations from Europe to Asia via the territory of the "taxing trio" take on a greater significance each day.
If a single freight train once a week could satisfy transportation needs between Europe and China some time ago, today we face the necessity of everyday transportation. At the moment, DB has certain doubts regarding cargo processings at the customs. If these problems are successfully solved, the project will see totally new perspectives, states D. Michel-Auli. Unified logo operator of RF, Belarus and Kazakhstan will cost more than two billion dollars. Possibly, Latvian assets, allowing transit cargo transportations en route Europe-Asia, will also be involved.
